ABOUT
The Thylazine Foundation Pty Ltd: Arts, Ethics & Literature

The Thylazine Foundation Pty Ltd: Arts, Ethics and Literature is incorporated as a company with limited liability and operates as a non-profit organisation in Darwin, the Northern Territory, Australia.

It publishes Thylazine: The Australian Journal of Arts, Ethics & Literature.

Thylazine is an online literary and arts journal that focuses on Australian artists, writers, musicians, photographers, performers and other creative practitioners working in the areas of landscape, biography, philosophical, activism, disability, social themes, autobiographical, animal, travel themes and other areas of special interest, with a strong emphasis on indigenous Australian culture.

The Thylazine Foundation Resource and Information website was the first Australian website to act as a free cultural and educational resource to the public, students and researchers on arts, ethics and literature in Australia. Thylazine hosted The Australian Poets Directory. This was the first major free online literary directory in Australia. In 2005 it became The Australian Artists and Writers Directory. This directory is all inclusive and currently hosts over 400 writers and artists from across the country.

The Thylazine Foundation is involved in the initiation of various small scale charitable projects within the local and wider community. In 2005 we launched: Australian Poets, Writers, Musicians & Artists for Charity: the initiation and promotion of philanthropy amongst the general creative arts community.

Our intention is to offer community services through the free and ongoing distribution of good quality vegan healthfood to children and their families from disadvantaged situations The Northern Territory and remote locations in Australia. To date The Thylazine Foundation has fed 250 children and their families by working in conjunction with The Salvation Army in Palmerston.

In addition to this, regular and ongoing donations of books, CDs and DVDs on arts, ethics and literature are made to libraries in remote locations in Australia. To date the organisation has donated over 2,000 books, CDs and DVDs to various libraries across Australia including; all state libraries and all public libraries throughout The Northern Territory of Australia.

The Thylazine Foundation also continues in its support of animal welfare in Australia by being responsible for the full and ongoing sponsorship of ten black angus cows in Rylstone in New South Wales and Susie, a jersey heifer with cerebral palsy living on Edgar's Mission in Victoria. We also offer free vegan and animal rights education kits to students in remote locations in outback, northern and central Australia.

The Thylazine Foundation (originally Thylazine) continues to be run on an entirely voluntary basis, serving the creative arts and the greater community since 2000. The organisation is self-funded and does not receive funding or assistance from any Australian government arts or literary funding bodies.

As of 2007, all charitable projects including the publication of Thylazine will be run on a donations basis only, relying on the generosity and goodwill of the creative arts community and the general public.

The Thylazine Foundation invites participation from the creative arts community to assist the greater community through; the initiation of their own creative and charitable projects and/ or through direct donation to the charitable projects run by The Thylazine Foundation: Arts, Ethics and Literature.

I trust that you will continue to enjoy and benefit from this free online cultural and educational resource.
