The psyche is a system of multiple consciousness. This online exhibition and collection explores our 'other' worlds through the group consciousness of our inner children and faery children (elementals) who create this art. I believe that other realities are born of perceptual experiences and can become a physical manifestation via the creative process. In this collection the hidden and evolving cosmology of our multiple psyche is expressed as a series of internalised landscapes and selves portraits.
All pieces involve channeling and are created while in a light trance, so that the artworks then become imbued with their own unique consciousness. As such the works are extremely sensitive and are best viewed under certain conditions involving space and light. The works will appear to shift and change as one walks by them or as the light shifts and changes around the room. These worlds are living.
People have experienced various physical sensations when viewing this work from shivers along their arms to feeling afraid to being hypnotised. This is primarily due to the psychic intensity of the works and the ability of the viewer and the work to connect to each other. It's all about the interplay and exchange of consciousness and perhaps then in asking oneself, where matter ends and spirit begins.
Faery Wood is a developing series of works on artboard and using various papers, particularly cotton, rice and mulberry, a variety of fabrics, craft items, glitters, gels, chalks, gems, crystals, handmade paper flowers, paints of silver, gold and pearl and many sparkling and shining things.
These thick cardboard collages are best viewed in a forest twilight or where natural light shifts within a space. The works are bordered by ornamental wooden frames and thick glass that serve to offer a window-sized glimpse into a layered cosmology as seen by our shy and evasive inner children. If left to gather dust and cobwebs, do not remove, as this will only add to the archeology of the piece.
Due to the special senstivity and personal nature of these works, they are only being sold from my own personal studio/ gallery and not through a dealer. The 40% commission normally taken by gallery owners is passed directly on to the purchaser making my art affordable. These original artworks are 'highly' collectable and come with their own story and instructions how to nurture their spirits. Where they are kept is where they will live, since these works are living worlds with living beings within worlds.
